Posh = True Brilliance

I'm totally serious when I say Posh is the funniest person I know. Her NBC special when she first moved to LA was famazing, and now this quote. OMG...I can barely handle it. I can't wait to be best friends with her!!!

"I’m quite spiritual. I’m very good at visualisation. I was talking to Gordon Ramsay and David about this and they’re the same. Gordon visualises a meal, then prepares it. David visualises the goal. I’ll lie in bed and think, what kind of look do I want tomorrow? Then find pieces in my mind to create it."

Sooooooooooooo mayjah!

The Video

Here's the brazilliant Ms. Lewis's studio version of Run. I can't handle this hotness!
Run - Leona Lewis

Monday, December 1, 2008

I'm confused...

about what to think. And about what's more traumatic. Or sad.

Monday, November 24, 2008

WOW WOW WOW!!!

I'm speechless. This totally redeems her from last night's manic performance at the AMAs. Controlled, brilliant, beautiful. It's perfection.

B-yond FIERCE...Sasha Fierce

OMG...Bouncy Knowles blew my mind last night at the AMAs. She is a true performer, compared to all the other lackluster acts (i.e. Christina's non-commitment, Mariah's strangely short notes, Leona's wailing). Oh...but Alicia was on top of her game. Anyway, back to B...

Dirty and Hilarious

This is definitely not PG...maybe PG13, but it's really funny. If the guys were actually hot, this would be porn.

Thursday, November 13, 2008

OMG...WTF?

How is this possible? I walked into Anna and Jenn's room this morning, and they were listening to Better, except it's (possibly) the original version. And the whole creative concept of the video is identical, except they use "real" people (according to Anna and Jenn. I'm speechless. I want to know more about this tender song. I can't believe the two versions are basically the same.

Something sweet

It's been a while since I've pushed myself some Boyzone, the band whose name unfortunately sounds like a gay porn site. But this song is sweet, sweet, sweet. The high notes are particularly famazing. Ok, so they're a little gay. Well, a lot gay. How come boy bands always only have ONE gay guy? Why not two?

And if that doesn't work, then imeem.com has come to rescue!

A little hot

Britney apparently took a page from Mimi's playbook and got her body back in order, but I'm really more interested in the helpless lad in this seductive little video.

A tiny horse!!!

Now if only I can find footage of a tiny pony. That's what I want.

Hilarity to the max

From the one and only maniac named Beyonce. This year's Ring the Alarm is now called Single Ladies (Put a ring on it). I don't even know what that means?! It's kind of amazing at the same time though, just as Ring the Alarm was...

Fireflies!

OMG...this is so cool. It's a virtualization of our skies lit up by airplane flights over 24 hours. The shift in flight concentration is famazing!!! I love this. A while ago Star Alliance had a real time tracker on their site as a wallpaper download.

Friday, October 3, 2008

OMG...Yahoo is famazing!

I can't believe they have this video!!! I'm thoroughly obsessed with this true pop gem. The video is horrendous, Diana looks like a fool, but her voice is incredible and the restaurant choreography should be on SYTYCD!

Another way to die...or be very confused

What the hell is going on here? And I kind of don't get the point of Alicia Keys in this bizarre production. I love you, Alicia, but this is pure crap.

The power of words

I came across this on an advertising blog, and it clearly demonstrates the power of infusing emotions into words rather than just giving information. And a great little film to boot.

Raquela Rios!

This is the next movie I want to watch. Other than The Duchess. Usually, documentaries about trannies freak me out a little bit. But this one seems like a touching story.

Project Runway Spoilers!!!

So here are the runway shows (video with commentary) of all six who presented at Bryant Park:
Leanne
Kenley
Korto
Joe
Jerell
Suede

Well, I would be really upset if the finale did not include Leanne or Korto, but I'm split between Kenley and Joe. Both have unique points of view, and created interesting collections. I don't like Western stuff, so I'd vote for Kenley over Joe myself.

I'm stuck between who should be the winner. I love both Leanne and Korto's collections, although if I were a judge, I would say Korto's is more interesting, and more deserving to be the best collection.

Palin & Clinton on SNL

This is the first time in a long time that I have laughed at an SNL skit. Tina Fey is amazing!!! What a return to the show!

You can stand under my umbrella

A brazilliant performance by Mandy Moore. I wish Rihanna had recorded a "slow" version. Notice how her video is playing in the background. This is truly sensational.

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Is this a joke???

WTF? I have no idea what is going on. Did Brooke Shields really think this is a good idea? Besides the fact that it's totally factually inaccurate, this POS is hysterical. I don't know what to think...

Britney's return to form

By far my favorite song off her latest album. Unfortunately, she was too messed up at the time to put together a real video. It would have been so hot!

Turkey - Is It East or West?

Taken from the New York Times.

Turkey — Is It East or West?
By Anwar Ali

Anwar J. Ali is an Iraqi journalist working for The New York Times in Baghdad. She recently went on vacation to Turkey. It was her second trip outside Iraq and her first outside the Arab world.

Before I went to Turkey I thought it was an Oriental country. After I arrived, and even though I’ve never been in Europe, I felt I was in a European world.
It is not like the Orient I know: the clean streets, the fancy and high buildings, what people were wearing, the number of Turkish women with such a modern way of wearing the hijab, lovers kissing each other openly in the streets.
When I arrived in Istanbul I went to the city center, the European side of the city. I was so eager to see that tremendous world that I suddenly found myself in.

I stayed near the Sea of Marmora, and the weather was wonderful and refreshing. I felt that my complexion changed for the better, and I really liked the colorful flowers and the fountains near the Sultan Ahmed mosque, the Blue Mosque. I also liked people’s happy colorful faces and the endless electricity.
I saw so many alcohol bars. Women and men were drinking openly. So many foreigners feeling free — Danish, Germans, Indians. Here in Iraq we haven’t seen foreigners for a long time. I see only journalists and American forces.
There are thousands of mosques in Turkey. Very fascinating, huge historical mosques. But the number of foreign tourists is much bigger than the number of people praying. I saw Japanese women wearing shorts allowed to enter a mosque, although one of the mosque officials gave them a hijab.
The streets and the market and the restaurants were something like those I see in France on the TV.
The women’s fashions are the same as those on TV. Even in the bazaars, the currency sellers deal with dollars and euros. And for the sellers, language is not a problem because the language of money is always clear.
There were different kinds of shops. I saw a fashion store four floors high and other huge shops, and the streets were full of people. People who looked so hopeful, with clothes so colorful and stylish. It was something like I have only seen on the TV, or in American or European movies. It was just like a paradise for me!
I took a tram for the first time to see the city. Although there was no need, because walking in those nice streets made me enjoy it so much. But it was very interesting. The tram was air-conditioned and very clean, the tickets were just like coins, and everything was in good order
They have fancy markets and air conditioned underground walkways. In Iraq it is dangerous to enter such tunnels. Under Saddam Hussein’s regime, drunk people used them as WC’s. And since Saddam, those places are not safe, lit or clean, and are mainly safe for wild dogs to live in.

Vicky Christina Barcelona

The movie itself is great enough already, but Penelope Cruz is truly amazing both as an actress and a stunning beauty. She can turn emotions on and off at the drop of a dime. She is truly a mesmerizing sensation to watch, as in Volver, and I only wish every scene in the movie included her. All the others are only supporting actors, despite more screen time.

Restaurant Review: Kampuchea

http://www.kampucheanyc.com/

Drink: Lychee fizz

A delicious and refreshing blend of ground up canned lychees and ginger ale. Who knew???

Zagat rating: 3

Appetizer: Catfish crepe

Nothing terribly special, except for the good amount of catfish. But it was covered in a very salty and sticky sauce. Good texture though.

Zagat rating: 1

Entree: Chicken katiew noodle soup

Delicious broth and a lemongrass undertone. Noodles were well cooked, and chicken was super tender, and Chinese sausages were a nice kick of sweetness. Very well done, but slightly pricey.

Zagat rating: 2

Conclusion:

A good meal, but probably not truly worth the money. Dislike the high tables and chairs with no backs. This is no place to relax or find shanti. It's almost a cafeteria setting, good for a quick meal. Still, the noodles are a true highlight, and apparently there's no other Cambodia noodle place in Manhattan, so there you go.

Zagat rating: 2

Restaurant Review: Sumile Sushi

http://www.sumile.com

Appetizer: Duck Gyoza

More like fried packets of duck than traditional gyoza. Came with green leafy vegetables spread on top of five or six gyozas. Couldn't really taste the duck, and both the sauce and the vegetables were overly salty.

Zagat rating: 1

Salad: Sesame Seared Tuna Salad

A very heathily portioned seared tuna salad for only $10, with plenty of avocado slides, a couple of cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. This was truly delicious. Each piece of the tuna was not evenly seared (points off for presentation), but was incredibly tasty, especially with the sesame bits. A tiny bit too much dressing for the salad, although the yuzu flavor was never too heavy.

Zagat rating: 3

Sushi Roll: King Crab California

Nothing special here, and could not really taste the crab, but Sumile has amazing rice, and that made all the difference. The taste and consistency were both perfect. Wish I had tried something more creative.

Zagat rating: 2

Entree: Miso cod

Bare presentation that really highlighted the perfectly cooked fish.

Zagat rating: 2

Dessert: Black Sesame Chocolate Mousse

Incredibly delicious and decadent cold mousse with bits of sesame cracker and a scoop of strawberry sorbet. Couldn't have asked for a more delicious ending to the already superb meal. It was more like a pudding than a mousse, but it didn't really matter. The sorbet was also a perfect compliment to the sweet chocolate.

Zagat rating: 3

Dessert: Housemade Doughnuts

Covered with matcha green tea sugar/powder, this was also delicious, especially with the condensed milk (?) dipping sauce. This is definitely a dessert to share, as it is impossible to finish at the end of a meal.

Zagat rating: 3

Conclusion:

A meal of extremely high quality at a very reasonable price. The service was gracious, and environment was quite shanti. I can't wait to go back.

Zagat rating: 3

Teenage Love Affair

I've been obsessed with this song today. I can't believe I was a teenager once also...

A winner has been chosen!

Well, I'm pleased with Joshua's win. And Katee's half win. Imagine if it were tied. That would have been famazing. But congratulations to all four of them. I can't wait to see Katee's future career. And Joshua in Step Up 3D!

SYTYCD Finale

I was really rooting for Courtney at the beginning of the show. Her hip hop was full of the wonderful energy she brings on stage week after week. But she had to fight the hardest to keep up with the rest of the dancers, and it really showed, starting with the jive, which was really sloppy.

Katee should win, without a doubt. Like Mary said, Katee is flawless in everything she does. And the way she moves can bring a smile to anyone and everyone. The foxtrot sealed the deal for me. She is true magic.

The boys were impressive, but Twitch is not as well rounded as Josh, and Josh also got tired. His jive was terrible...basically just plopping around the stage to music. There was no jiving at all.

I am hoping that tomorrow, the top guy and the top girl will be Katee and Joshua. And then Katee will be crowned America's Favorite Dancer.

A new name is born!

From this day forward, I will also be known as Danny Frost.

SYTYCD Top 6 Performances

The most amazing performance by far...Mark & Courtney's jazz routine.

Katee and Joshua's Paso Doble was also one of the best on the show ever!

Chelsie was on fire with her Mambo, but unfortunately for Twitch, he couldn't keep up...

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

SYTYCD Top 6

If I were the supreme justice of SYTYCD, the top 4 would be...

Katie, Joshua, Courtney, and Mark!

Now first a little bit of bad news. It breaks my heart to say this, but for some reason, Katie's usual spirit did not shine as much tonight. I do not know if it is because of her, or because of the way every single dancer stepped up their game. She is still truly flawless, but she did not entertain me the way she usually does.

Part of her problem is her pairing with Josh, who is phenomenal. Maybe Katie wanted to take a step back and let him have some of the limelight? I don't know, but Josh outshined Katie in both dances, especially the Paso Doble. That was out of this world.

Courtney and Mark were just pure entertainment. They are so fun to watch all the time, and I believe Mark's spirit shines just as much as Katie's. They both just get so much joy out of dancing; it is so evident on their faces.

The reason Chelsea and Twitch did not get my vote was simply because they were both outdanced. Twitch was a major disappointment tonight. He could not keep up with Chelsea at all, who was on fire. But she was let down by her partner. In the end, Katie's portfolio, and Courtney's brilliance tonight trumped Chelsea.

Can I just say that Sonja's jazz routine is now officially my favorite routine of all time? As Adam Shankman said it, it was SICK! Was he about to cry? Is he in love with Tyce? I was really confused...

Fireworks in Tuckahoe

Fireworks are not my thing. The delay between the image and sound is really annoying, and the sounds are like gunshots...quite unnerving. Apparently some party in Tuckahoe prompted what seemed like a very long fireworks extravaganza. They are not very impressive at all, and I super bored after 2 minutes of filming.

However, this is my FIRST ever Youtube video!!! Let the fireworks begin!

Obama Umbrella

This fierceness comes courtesy of Mad TV! Something SNL could have never put together. Slightly NSFW, but outrageously clever.

Thursday, July 10, 2008

I can't believe...

Bahia did not win She's Got the Look. The judges kept saying over and over again how gorgeous she is, yet also criticized her for being too sexy or sultry. It's just the way she is; her voice and accent and general Frenchness just add to the allure. Anyway, tell me this is not one of the most gorgeous women you have ever seen...

SYTYCD Top 12 continued

Obviously the highlight and dramatic end to the show...

Katee and Joshua's Viennese Waltz...not their style, but Katee is always a delight to watch.

Mark is the sexiest man in the world...

Mark and Chelsie spice it up with the Salsa

Now for some Gev and Courtney...the jazz was pretty hot

But the Cha Cha was on FIRE! (Gev is also really sexy; I want to get the message too!)

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

SYTYCD Top 12

No videos just yet...but if America gets it right on consistent performance and skill, the top 3 couples will be Joshua & Katee, Gev & Courtney, and Mark & Chelsea. Katee always outdoes herself, this week with the Bollywood routine, and Mark is the sexiest man I have ever laid eyes on.

Anya and her Viennese Waltz:

Saturday, July 5, 2008

Put the needle on it

Benji and Donyelle dance to one of my favorite songs!

Anya(s) of the week!

This contemporary routine was magic for Anya...

Even with a hip hop number, Anya shines right through. She can do any dance at all, yet she's always unquestionably Anya at the same time. Katee still has to find that trademark that makes people remember Katee the person through her dance.

And here's a spicy little Samba...possibly the sexiest dance on SYTYCD ever. But no Anya unfortunately:

Friday, July 4, 2008

SYTYCD TOP 14

Katee is amazing week after week. She commits to her dances way more than any other dancer in this season, other than Mark perhaps. But Joshua also feeds off her passion. They are amazing to watch, even making the terribly silly West Coast Swing look phenomenal. If they don't make it to the top, I'll be terribly disappointed. In fact, I'm already rooting for Katee to win.

Katee & Josh's contemporary:

Katee & Josh's West Coast Swing:

Mark & Chelsie's jazz:

Mark & Chelsie's Foxtrot:

A great summer song

Not the best off her album. That would be Cruise Control, Side Effects, or Thanx for Nothing. But this is a great frothy summer jam.

Who knew???

Bleeding Love was actually written by Jesse McCartney?! Along with Ryan Tedder of One Republic. Here's Jesse's version, which is not quite as effective, but the lyrics truly make the song special.

SYTCYD Top 16

Can I just say how incredibly sexy Mark is? He is so intense...mmmmmm. Yummy!

And then there was Katee and Josh's Samba. Katee absolutely shines in every dance she does, because music just fills her body. She feels it completely, just like Anya from last season. Katee hasn't disappointed at all this season, and nor has Josh, but I'm always totally drawn to Katee.

Gev is also a very sexy guy. In a sleazy Eastern European kind of way, but he is so into Courtney that their dances just sizzle up a storm. So here's the final dance that got my vote last night.

Here's an Anya bonus from last season...maybe I'll include one with each update!

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

SYTYCD Top 18

Sorry, no post last week, but these were my faves. Mark is HOT! And Katee is just so full of music, it's wonderful.

Pig in Boots!

This is by far the cutest thing I have ever seen, and I can't wait to have my own mini-pig that wears boots. Cinders is afraid of mud, and will only step into it with her siblings if she has her mini-wellies on. Every morning, she runs to her owners for the boots. I am about to die! (source)

Overheard

Union Square:

I need to reposition myself as a bottom.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Absolutely terrible. Also very funny.

My votes are in

My favorite of the night was Katee & Joshua's hip-hop routine by Napoleon and Tabitha. This left me completely speechless. Furthermore, it also made me fall in love with the song, which I found totally annoying before.

Second favorite couple (cutest guy & girl on the show) was Thayne & Chelsea, doing the cha-cha by Tony & Meredith. Both were on fire and made it so much fun!

Overall a really good start to the season, and there were no terrible flops as far as I was concerned. The talent is getting better each year, which is not true for American Idol.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Overheard

In St. Kitts:

Our tour guide complained that the current president misled people of the island during his campaign by promising not to cut sugarcane production, but did so after a year in office. And a woman on the tour gushed, "How come you don't have a revolution?"

In Forever21, 34th Street:

A woman told her friend who had just bought two little turtles in one of those plastic tanks, "Look, they are having sex." The friend replied, "Turtles don't have sex, fool. They lay eggs!"

American Idol Final 3

Still think Sayeisha should win, even though I forgot to vote for her. She's by far the most versatile, the least predictable, the most beautiful, and the second best singer, behind little David. Her songs showed her range, and the kind of music she would put together on an album. Even if the album is terrible, at least it will be interesting. The other two Davids, on the other hand, are totally predictable through and through, especially Cook. Every single song would start out low and quiet, then build to a screaming finish...b-o-r-i-n-g!!! Having said that, I don't think Archuleta is quite mature enough and ready to make any kind of commercial album.

If I were the record exec, I would sign up Sayeisha, audition Cook, and ask Archuleta to come back once he's reached puberty.

Brothers & Sisters Season Finale

Yes, I cried. The wedding was extremely touching, especially how Scotty's dad asked Kevin to understand that he and his wife are not "bad people." It was a pretty balanced view.

I'm glad I started watching the show. It's one of my favorites now. I think most of my love is due to Sally Field. But I'm not convinced about Justin and Rebecca. That kiss was just bizarre.

Reality Roundup

So Jason Castro finally got the boot. I wonder what took so long. Who was voting for him in the first place? He doesn't have a good voice. He doesn't have good looks. Even worse is his nasty hair. He is super awkward and annoying. My personal pick this year is Sayeisha. David Cook has become mad boring to me, and while Archuleta has an amazing voice, I cannot imagine him having any staying power. Plus, he will have a totally glitterific meltdown ala Mooriah.

Dominique was eliminated from ANTM. I personally would have picked Whitney to leave, but either one is fine I guess. If the top two are not Anya and Fatima, I would be extremely shocked. Anya is the clear winner of this cycle, considering the heaps of praise Seventeen's editor gave her at judging. Unless Fatima can pull off some miracle, Anya is going to be easy, breezy, beautiful Covergirl.

Crazy for Coach Diaz!

First he says, I swear I will never put Justin in an embarrassing situation. Then he says, Let's meet halfway...you let him come to gym class and I'll let him choreograph the cheerleading squad. Who knew gym teachers could be so EO sensitive?

Finally, Ugly Betty has some spice. This season has sort of been a downer, with Wilhemina's crazy sister, Christina's isolated pregnancy, Henry never seeing Betty...it seems as if every character has their own little story going on, so there's less and less interaction. We need more Mark and Amanda, Christina and Betty, Daniel and his sister! And I'm totally not shedding a tear for Henry leaving town (or the show?). I totally heart Gio more. And now there's Coach Diaz...mmmmmmm! (more images here)

The First Post

In some ways I think this first post will represent the tone of my blog. At the same time I also hope that this does not bite me in the ass later on. No further description needed...
